Hiding behing a wall of Chinese stamps and disguising itself as ‘Mr. Ming’s stamp shop’ is Mrs. Pound just off hollywood road. This eatery serves Asian cuisine with a modern twist, featuring a quirky yet cute dining space. This Hipster style eatery features a simple menu with street-style small bites and plates for sharing.
Our journey started in Mexico, with the siracha sweet corn; a peccorino cheese encrusted corn cob (HK$58 ). The cob was sweet and crunchy, which balanced out the salty cheese and spicy Siracha dip. A good starter. We then went on to Mrs. Pound’s signature chilli crab (HK$ 468). A saucy spicy bowl of goodness with a surprise; a generous bedding of macaroni and cheese to sop up all the chilli crab deliciousness. Feeling like gluttenous pigs we ordered a final helping of avocado fritters. An interesting new way of interpreting an all time favourite, avocados. Wraped in a thin crunchy layer of panco crumbs with tender slices of avocado, it partnered well with the chilli crab and Siracha mayo dip.
Verdict:
Overall, a good meal with inspiring food and good service. The tables were rather small which made it difficult to eat, especially if u order a few too many dishes. It is a good place if you want something a bit out there, to keep the dining experience interesting. A great concept for a speakeasy with a fine-dining price tag.
