Joining the group of new takeaway restaurants on Swatow street is Cheeky pasta. Opened by Racks’ original owner Roberto Kwong and his long-time friend Chan Fu in mid-September 2015, Cheeky Pasta is perched at the end of Swatow street. Passing by, it’s bright orange facade and funny logo stops you right in your tracks.
Cheeky Pasta mainly does takeaways and is known for its made-to-order pastas and original fusion style snacks like “angel hair dragon beard”. All of the Pastas are customizable, where you can pick the type of pasta (Linguine, Spaghetti and Penne) and sauce (Pesto, Bolognese, etc.). It also has lunch-exclusive sets that include a pasta and side dish, for busy office clients. I tried 2 of their pastas; the Pesto Chicken Fusilli and Carbonara spaghetti. Both pastas were made using ready-made (semolina) and not fresh pasta.

Pesto Chicken Fusilli : Not too salty and had just enough sauce. The small Japanese mushrooms added crunch and the chicken was tender.
Carbonara spaghetti : Had a creamy sauce with smokey bacon bits, not bad but didn’t really stand out.
Overall, the Pastas are ok, though Cheeky Pasta can be a great takeaway choice especially for lunch and a quick dinner. Roberto, the owner, is also very friendly and sociable and makes good company when you eat there.
Go give it a try and let me know how it goes!
