Bread Street Kitchen is British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey’s first Hong Kong establishment. Serving British European cuisine with a sleek modern design, it is a great place for family and friend gatherings or casual meals. Having been to a few of Ramsey’s restaurants in London, I had high expectations.
Here are 2 of Bread Street’s classics; chicken and a British favourite, the Eton Mess.
Baby Chicken Chimichurri HK$218
Well cooked chicken that was tender paired with a roasted lemon that gave sweetness and helped counteract the acidity of the chimichurri. The Chimichurri was too acidic for my liking, although herby, did not enhance the freshness of the chicken.
Eton mess; strawberries, chantilly, meringue HK$88
A well-loved British classic that is simple yet satisfying. Nothing too challenging about this dish, but was a good finish to the meal.
Verdict:
Great atmosphere with affordable prices, though there was nothing spectacular about the food. Must higher expectations for variety and quality of food was expected, though service was exemplary.
